Position Purpose:

Operationalise processes and systems in the Credit Management function in managing Group credit risk, emerging market

risks and develop models and best practices to counter the risk and reduce bad debts.


Position outputs:

  • Establish the credit risk appetite for Transnet in relation to the extension of credit and align to service/product offering, target
markets and credit risk framework.
  • Identify and monitor emerging risks pertaining to credit management and develop models to counter the risk.
  • Ensure adequate credit policies and procedures exist, are communicated and are consistently adhered to, across the
Group. Maintain the policies and procedures in line with the Transnet regulatory compliance universe.
  • Communicate with the workforce on the credit management policies and procedures.
  • Operationalise credit systems, risk frameworks and methodologies.
  • Control and improve the processes for credit application and extension.
  • Perform credit evaluation on Transnet Counterparties.
  • Implement the expected credit loss methodology and models across the Group.
  • Design and generate integrated credit dashboard and reports.
  • Improve working capital through early customer collections and other measures.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BCom in Accounting.
  • Post graduate qualification in Finance (Honours).
  • Proven 5 year’s work experience in the credit environment.
  • Qualified CA(SA), or CFA would be an added advantage.
  • Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19.
Standard Job Requirements
